So I picked one of these up two days ago, and I have to say its a great device. Upon first inspection you will notice its remarkably smaller, also with packaging then any previous headset they have put out, and so far I think its the best bluetooth as far as a mono device goes. The first thing you’ll notice is that there’s 6 different styles to choose from but there’s really 7 as I have the silver ones pattern in black.

The best part of the headset so far to me is the battery meter that displays on an iPhone, and only the iPhone. I usually charge my bluetooth headsets as often as possible as im afraid of them dying when I want to use them. Now I know that a lot of headsets have a battery status in them these days, but who really takes the headset off to check how many times a light blinks on the side of it. This Jawbone doesn’t even have a light facing outward to the public anymore. The only light on the device is on the inside and it only is there to let you know what mode the device is in.

After making a few calls on it I noticed that it doesn’t really stay pushed up well against my jawbone so that the special rubber sensor is in place properly. On the upside of that though it never has for me with any previous headsets, and with the main button being on the back now, i can push one finger against it to make sure its in place without ending the call as im sure many people have done many times no matter how used to they are of where the buttons are. It also is very loud and clear as far as bluetooth headsets go, and everyone I had asked said I sounded great with minimal background noise.

Something I am still waiting for is the beta access to their new MyTalk platform which allows the user to install apps on the headset. Yes I said apps, so with this specific line now you can change the language or voice on the device, or I read about an app that will read you the latest twitter post or text message privately without having to pick up your phone. have a meeting or want to put a time limit on how long you talk? well there’s an (or will be) an app for that, and yes I used that phrase. Click here to go sign up for the beta

There’s an app for that.

When it came to packaging, they took a turn to reduce the amount of plastic used in the box, making this new package looking like less then half the size of the previous jawbones, but i think that’s also partially due to the size of the headset being small and able to be displayed in the box properly. Inside there is a total of 7 ear gels including the one that comes on the headset, and one ear hook. The ear hook is ball jointed and is very nice for preventing that stiff feeling your ear gets after a while of having most other headsets on. The last thing that makes this bluetooth so great is the price of $99. In the past I’ve noticed that these top of the line headsets are usually over $100 in retail stores but this one I think was priced to compete with those other top of the line bluetooths and until they are brought down this is a huge selling point as this headset could easily fall into that over $100 category for all its features and extras. Here are some unboxing pictures of the ICON, just click to see the full image.

All in all I would say this is a great new headset on the market and will probably take the majority of high end bluetooth sales for a while, especially with iPhone users alone just for the battery meter. I am having a tough time myself in choosing which I want to wear more compared to the Jabra Stone but can say that if the ICON had a2dp (Stereo Bluetooth) then I would have to go right for the ICON. Aliph please please please put a2dp in your next headset, because I would love to not have to choose simply based on that alone, and be the all in one solution for me next time K?

If you would like to purchase one of these please do so through my links below as *Amazon will give me a parade* if 10 people buy them through my site.

So the last month I picked up a Jabra Stone and I wanted to share my findings after using it for about a month. It is definitely my headset of choice for now until something better comes along, but for some of you depending on your usage you may find this to be a bit of a pain.

Hit more for the rest of the review.

Let me start with the number one thing I liked about this Mono Bluetooth is that it has a2dp. What is a2dp? Well most devices will stream music to your stereo headphones nowadays, but if it is just a single speaker headset then it usually doesn’t support streaming music. So whenever I have my Stone on, weather i’m at my desk, or out of the house, i don’t have to have a wired headset to listen to music. I can keep my iPhone in my belt clip and go about my day for about… two and a half hours, which is about how long the battery lasts when i am streaming music. I had been told that it had short battery life, and after having a Jabra 8040 which seemed to last forever, only two and a half hours was really short. But the sound quality is good, and it has a decent volume to it, although I think that most headsets have some sort of limiter so you wont go deaf. The sound is also controlled by sliding your finger up or down on the device, there is no buttons for it except the one main answer/hangup button. When I talk to people they have no problem hearing me, and the noise cancellation on it is pretty good as people haven’t been able to tell if i’m driving and I always have the window cracked open.

Now what I didn’t mention about the battery life, was that the case that it comes with has a built in battery that is said to recharge the unit up to five times. Realistically to me that means about 2 or 3 times, but you’ll probably end up recharging it at night if you recharge/sync your phone when you go to sleep. The stone charger will also automatically disconnect when you place the headset in the charger, and reconnect when you pop it out. Just make sure when you put it in the charger that its in all the way as I have accidentally left it connected a few times and missed some calls. Also in the package was a belt clip for the charger, short wired micro house charger, USB micro cord, and another ear gel. When I got it there was a package attached that had two different style ear gels, which one of them was better then the standard ones included. i’m not sure if those different ear gels are included now but that was something that made it fit a lot better in my ear.

Now the last thing to mention that might pose a problem for some people would be that this is only designed for one ear and cannot be switched to the other. My mom only uses Bluetooths on her left ear so she found it hard to use this and gave it back to me after a few days of trying it out. But it was nice that it would never fall out of my ear no matter if i was running or moving around suddenly, which is especially good when im headbanging at a concert. =p

As for the price, I have seen it for as high as 129.99 at at&t or as low as $70 on Amazon.com. If you would like to purchase one please support my site by purchasing threw the Amazon links provided around the site.

Pros:

Stereo Bluetooth for music

charger keeps the Bluetooth safe and charges when not in use

Auto disconnect/reconnect

good sound quality

doesn’t hurt my ear after being in for most of the day

Cons:

Only works on your right ear

short device battery life

can accidentally make calls when snapping into charger

can only be taken out by pushing from underneath

So the other week when I went to the doctor, and I was told the obvious things that doctors usually say. So who am I to not listen to the doc right?

Hit more to read the rest of the review

After some thought and input on what some of my friends have and other people have tried, I decided on the 3DOM e-cig. At first I was a bit skeptical as I have read pretty much every e-cig out there has some sort of flaw to it, but After hearing from a friend of mine that it was working well for him I decided to pick up the liberty starter kit for only 21.95 (+ $5 flat rate shipping) which is pretty good for everything that comes in the pack. Its about the size of a 100’s box and it has 5 cartridges, USB charger, battery, and Atomizer inside of the pack.

They carry more then just this one kit though, such as the “Freedom” and “Elite” Starter kits. Those two kits are a bit more money, but they each come with a plastic pack that has a built in battery to charge one of the two e-cig batteries you get while you’re using the other, as well as coming in two different colors (blue and orange/red). On top of that they both come with a car charger, house charger, and 20 cartridges which is roughly about a cartons worth. But these kits are not the same as the “Freedom” is smaller and closely resembles a real cigarette, and the “Elite” is more of a wide style with larger cartridges that last about 50% more of the standard size. Refill packs come with 20 cartridges for $20 ($25 for Elite) which is equivalent to about 200 cigarettes, and they have different strengths (Regular/Lights) and a Menthol flavor which reminded me of chewing a stick of winterfresh gum at the same time.

My order was shipped the following day and as I happen to be about 2 miles from where it shipped out of it came the next day. I quickly took it out of the package and assembled the pieces, on top of that it was pre charged so i didnt even have to wait to try it out. The first few tries it took a little getting used to, because theres a certain way to pull with all of these types of products and it takes some time before your comfortable or know the trick to do it. I found that if i give a little extra twist after putting on the cartridge it moves the foil seal a little that can sometimes get in the way, or using a paperclip to take out the foil completely works well too.

It gave you some smoke, ahem, vapor to give you the real effect, and it kept me inside the office without the need to take a break outside. Although it isnt a real cigarette it still does contain Nicotine which is still harmful to yourself, but not nearly as much as the real thing. It is also legal to “Vape” anywhere (as of now) but I recomend using the blue lighted battery so that people dont assume your smoking a real cigarette in the same room as them. If anyone does have a problem, make sure to let them know that there is no Tar, tobacco, or pollution generated from these and that they are completely safe. I am very happy I bought these and since then 2 other friends have also ordered them and are happier with them then any other previous methods they used in the past.
