The Jawbone ICON, Truly an Icon :p

So I picked one of these up two days ago, and I have to say its a great device. Upon first inspection you will notice its remarkably smaller, also with packaging then any previous headset they have put out, and so far I think its the best bluetooth as far as a mono device goes. The first thing you’ll notice is that there’s 6 different styles to choose from but there’s really 7 as I have the silver ones pattern in black.

The best part of the headset so far to me is the battery meter that displays on an iPhone, and only the iPhone. I usually charge my bluetooth headsets as often as possible as im afraid of them dying when I want to use them. Now I know that a lot of headsets have a battery status in them these days, but who really takes the headset off to check how many times a light blinks on the side of it. This Jawbone doesn’t even have a light facing outward to the public anymore. The only light on the device is on the inside and it only is there to let you know what mode the device is in.

After making a few calls on it I noticed that it doesn’t really stay pushed up well against my jawbone so that the special rubber sensor is in place properly. On the upside of that though it never has for me with any previous headsets, and with the main button being on the back now, i can push one finger against it to make sure its in place without ending the call as im sure many people have done many times no matter how used to they are of where the buttons are. It also is very loud and clear as far as bluetooth headsets go, and everyone I had asked said I sounded great with minimal background noise.

Something I am still waiting for is the beta access to their new MyTalk platform which allows the user to install apps on the headset. Yes I said apps, so with this specific line now you can change the language or voice on the device, or I read about an app that will read you the latest twitter post or text message privately without having to pick up your phone. have a meeting or want to put a time limit on how long you talk? well there’s an (or will be) an app for that, and yes I used that phrase. Click here to go sign up for the beta

there's an app for thatThere’s an app for that.

When it came to packaging, they took a turn to reduce the amount of plastic used in the box, making this new package looking like less then half the size of the previous jawbones, but i think that’s also partially due to the size of the headset being small and able to be displayed in the box properly. Inside there is a total of 7 ear gels including the one that comes on the headset, and one ear hook. The ear hook is ball jointed and is very nice for preventing that stiff feeling your ear gets after a while of having most other headsets on. The last thing that makes this bluetooth so great is the price of $99. In the past I’ve noticed that these top of the line headsets are usually over $100 in retail stores but this one I think was priced to compete with those other top of the line bluetooths and until they are brought down this is a huge selling point as this headset could easily fall into that over $100 category for all its features and extras. All in all I would say this is a great new headset on the market and will probably take the majority of high end bluetooth sales for a while, especially with iPhone users alone just for the battery meter. I am having a tough time myself in choosing which I want to wear more compared to the Jabra Stone but can say that if the ICON had a2dp (Stereo Bluetooth) then I would have to go right for the ICON. Aliph please please please put a2dp in your next headset, because I would love to not have to choose simply based on that alone, and be the all in one solution for me next time K?

If you would like to purchase one of these please do so through my links below as *Amazon will give me a parade* if 10 people buy them through my site.

I am writing this review in my free time for fun, I have not been paid by Aliph or given really cool toys to play with at home to tell you guys this is awesome and to buy it. But I figure if you are going to buy it, why not do it through my amazon links and help me earn some money for it :)
